The vice chancellor was talking to a delegation of the former Pakistani students, settled abroad, who called him on the eve of Eid. He told them to understand the serious nature of the calamity that has struck an area 30,000 sq. kilometres, spreading destruction and leaving a trail of death, injuries and homelessness to hundreds and thousands of people.
It was worse than the tsunami that caused havoc in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and many other countries, he commented.
He warned that the advent of winter was of great concern because it could cause further deaths if rehabilitation and reconstruction was not completed in very short time. He told the visiting delegation that they should share the bounty Allah had given to them with the unfortunate countrymen.
He informed the delegation that the department of psychology was sending two teams to the affected areas for the psychological rehabilitation of the quake victims.
